Hi, I’m Tracy — a post-secondary educator, program coordinator, photographer, and doctoral scholar researching how faculty learn and develop their teaching practice.
I began my post-secondary teaching career at Durham College in 2011, where I taught and developed curriculum across photography and multimedia programs. In 2012, I joined Algonquin College’s School of Design Studies as a full-time Professor in Photography, where I taught across multiple delivery modalities and served as Program Coordinator. In that role, I supported academic program delivery, curriculum development, faculty collaboration, industry partnerships, and student success initiatives while navigating significant periods of institutional change, including pandemic-related transitions and program teach-out.
Before entering higher education, I spent more than a decade working as a commercial photographer. As an on-staff photographer with St. Joseph Communications – Content (now SJC), I produced commercial imagery for national retail clients, collaborating with stylists, art directors, and production teams to deliver high-volume print and digital content. My industry experience continues to shape my approach to teaching, curriculum development, and connecting academic programs with professional practice.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, I revisited my early multimedia training to create more than 100 multi-camera tutorial videos to support students in a rapidly changing learning environment. These resources later became part of my flipped classroom approach in studio lighting courses, where I explored how instructional design and digital learning strategies could improve student engagement and support deeper learning. This has evolved into a multi-semester research study.
I hold a Master of Education from Ontario Tech University, a Bachelor of Applied Arts in Image Arts from Toronto Metropolitan University, and an Ontario College Diploma in Creative Photography from Humber Polytechnic. I am currently a third-year Doctor of Education student specializing in Learning Sciences, at the University of Calgary. My doctoral research examines faculty professional learning in vocational post-secondary contexts, with a focus on collaborative approaches to improving teaching practice.
This website brings together my work as an educator, researcher, and creative practitioner, including my doctoral studies, educational projects, multimedia development, and professional photography practice.
